Multifunctional Concert Hall

A Nevzat Sayin Mimarlik Hizmetleri project

“ Because it was to be a structure by the Bosphorus our key design decision was to make a practically invisible building.

Since it was located on a museum campus already in use, it had to be constructed as quickly as possible and without damaging the roots of the old trees around it.

Because the state before the building was constructed  was preserved after it was built, its relationship to its surroundings can be summarized as one of blending in.

It can be described as a compact structure in which foyer, concert hall, and service areas and the machine room serving these have a functional relationship.

The fact that it is an invisible structure despite being part of the ‘society of the spectacle’ makes a distinctive building. A floor thatcan be adjusted for different situations leads to different uses and different perceptions of space. Furthermore, another important point in the project is the acoustic solutions that do not require any electronic interfaces in a space that is essentially a concert hall for chamber orchestras.

It is now used more often for executive meetings due to the fact that it has become extremely popular despite having been succesfully used as planned; this has reduced its use as a concert hall.

It offers a significant experience for audience and artists thanks to the abovementioned technological inputs and construction techniques and also its succesfull acoustics. The distorted silhouettes of colorful chairs reflecting on the black three-dimensional walls give one the pleasure of being inside an abstract painting.” (nsmh.com)
