Madame Malachite
Maxx Royal Bodrum Resort, 2024
Madame Malachite’s objects are most revealing when seen individually. Their quality lies not only in form and colour, but in craftsmanship, detail and the tactile character of leather. We therefore approached the store through the logic of exhibition rather than conventional retail display, giving each object enough space and attention to be encountered on its own, while keeping the experience of browsing, handling and buying at the centre of the design.
Illuminated oval niches derive from one of the brand’s recurring forms, while a large composition of concentric leather layers turns touch into part of the experience. A fabric canopy suspended beneath the dark ceiling carries something of Bodrum’s outdoor life into the interior. On the store’s quieter side façade, the layered structure of malachite becomes a three-dimensional illuminated display, with selected objects embedded within it. Behind this visible layer, the practical requirements of retail – storage, reception, circulation and the handling of stock – were integrated into the same spatial system.
As with our exhibition projects, we carried the work from design through on-site implementation, installation and the final placement of the objects.
