SAKIP SABANCI MARDIN KENT MUSEUM

An Orientalist in Mardin

Marius Bauer

“The museum is accommodated in a previous cavalry barrack in the ancient city of Mardin dating back to the Silk Road. The exhibits depict the story of ‘Travelling to the Orient’ and ‘Marius Bauer at Home’.

Bauer’s works are displayed theme-wise in cabinets and are illustrated by pictures, maps and 3d blow-ups of pages from the Arabian Nights featuring drawings by Marius Bauer. The suspended exhibition panels are fixed between the historical walls and columns and highlight the various themes by their distinctive colours.” (jowa.nl)
