39th DYO Art Awards
The DYO Painting Awards, which have been organized continuously since 1967 and have gained an international character today, have hosted many masters of Turkish painting such as Adnan Çoker, Mustafa Pilevneli, Vedat Mavitan, Zahit Büyükişleyen, Devrim Erbil and Mustafa Ayaz. The DYO Painting Awards, which has the distinction of being an art event that especially attracts the attention of young generation artists, has become a platform where national and international current developments, new trends and research in the art of painting are evaluated as well as bringing valuable names to the art of painting.
The exhibition, which opened its doors at the Sakıp Sabancı Mardin City Museum hosted by the Sabancı Foundation, consists of the award-winning and exhibition-worthy works of the 39th DYO Painting Awards organized with the theme “Nature and Man”. Artist Habip Aydoğdu, Prof. Hayri Esmer, Assoc. Prof. Devabil Kara, Prof. Cebrail Ötgün, Prof. Ferhat Özgür, Prof. Mümtaz Sağlam and journalist İhsan Yılmaz took part in the jury of the competition, where 704 artists from Iran, Azerbaijan, Germany, Chile and Bulgaria applied with 1,066 works. While the selection committee deemed 6 works worthy of an award, 79 works were deemed worthy of exhibition.
The selection committee deemed Atila Ulusal’s “Don’t Take Me Away from Here”, Furkan Armutçu’s “Wheat Field”, İrfan Dönmez’s “Images About Me” and Murat Özbakır’s “Soil-Surface-City-Structure” worthy of awards in the category of painting, while Kübra Gürleşen’s “Salt Lake” and Şerife Şen Akkaş’s “Extinction” were awarded in the category of printmaking. 79 works were deemed worthy of exhibition.
